Engineering Services
Our in-house engineering staff makes it possible for Soil Consultants to respond with lightning speed to even the most complicated problems experienced by our clients. We are readily available to consult on a wide variety of topics, including design work, in-situ soil conditions, truss and wood frame repairs in addition to building code plan reviews.
The department is headed by our Senior Vice President of Engineering, Lawrence C. Rude, Ph.D., P.E., whose expertise in our field is unrivaled. A former professor at Virginia Tech, Dr. Rude's endless commitment to helping our clients has earned him the respect of his peers, clients and government regulators alike.
While Dr. Rude is unmatched in the expertise of slope stability studies and shrink-swell soil conditions, he is also a leader in our industry with respect to concrete, structural engineering, construction framing and building code services. He is an approved commercial code inspector in Fairfax County, Virginia and Prince George's County, Maryland. Dr. Rude is also a Fairfax and Prince George's County approved/certified third party peer reviewer of construction building plans, including architectural, building and structural plans, for code compliance.
George H. Walker, P.E. is our head Geotechnical Engineer and trouble shooter. Mr. Walker's knowledge of soils and subsurface conditions throughout the area have made him a sought out consultant of geotechnical solutions and construction problem solving. In addition, Mr. Walker has earned a Master's Degree in Theology. He provides Soil Consultants with a moral compass that fosters a bond of trust with our church clientele that is unattainable by our competition.
Our newest member to the engineering staff is Pio Masone, P.E. Mr. Masone is a Structural Engineer specializing in framing and foundation repairs, foundation wall and retaining wall designs. Larry, George and Pio have developed our engineering staff into a well rounded department which stands ready to assist our clients in any of the following areas:
